This International Women’s Day, we’d like to give a shoutout to women leaders in the tech industry, especially those in sales leadership positions. These women have been nominated by our own team, as people who inspire and empower us to strive, thrive and grow in our careers.
Looking for sales leaders to follow for inspiration and best practices?
Jill Konrath is one of the most recognized women in sales. In fact she’s been listed as the #1 B2B Sales Leader to Follow on LinkedIn, one of the top 7 Most Influential Sales Thought Leaders of 21st Century (Salesforce), and one of the top 20 Social Sellers (Forbes). She started at a time when gender equality was not a priority for many companies and is now a trusted leader, sales strategist, speaker and author.
One of our favorite quotes from Jill is “If you’re not learning, you’re falling behind. Somebody else is getting better as you’re becoming less valuable. I see so many irrelevant salespeople I want to cry. They stopped learning.”
What we love about Jill is her passion for continuously driving productivity without stripping away the fun in the process. She’s inspired our team to look for ways to cut down processes—whether we are ramping up new sales programs, aiming to get a foot in the door of targeted accounts or securing more high-quality meetings with key decision-makers.
Tiffani Bova is the Global Customer Growth and Innovation Evangelist at Salesforce. Named one of the Most Powerful and Influential Women in California and Top 50 Sales and Marketing voices by LinkedIn, Tiffany has changed how companies engage with customers and grow business. Her unique experience both in sales execution and management includes a dynamic approach to interpreting and solving business problems that speaks to all sales levels from front-line to executive teams.
What we find inspiring in Tiffani is that she does not shy away from provoking questions and never stops bringing inspiring energy through any medium – her podcasts, her speaking engagements, or her books, or even her everyday work. She believes in the value of the process and always encourages her followers to discover learning opportunities in challenges.
Our favorite quote from Tiffani is, “Trust the process. The journey is never a straight line. Life will present you with amazing opportunities as well as challenges. But believing you can work through it no matter what is liberating.”
Named one of LinkedIn Top Sales Influencer in 2019, Cynthia Barnes has dedicated her career to motivating, empowering and equipping women with the necessary skills to rise to the top level in sales. With the foundation of the National Association of Women Sales Professionals (NAWSP) in 2016, Cynthia embarked on the journey to empower other women in sales to reach the top 1% in sales, which puts her in the rank of champions for women in sales.
Cynthia’s mission with the NAWSP is simple: to redefine what it means to be a woman in sales. She wants female sales professionals to acknowledge, overcome and inspire other women to rise above the challenges. In other words, to dance on the glass ceiling.
With 20 years of experience in sales, Cynthia understands the challenges women face in this field, as well as the skills needed to overcome it. That’s why all the programs offered by the NAWSP seek to equip women with the tools and network needed to accelerate their sales career. What’s even more inspiring is that she works tirelessly to promote a more empowering working environment for female sales professionals – through corporate workshops, seminars and speaking engagements – so that they can continue to grow and develop their career even outside of the NAWSP. A down-to-earth, yet very inspiring goal!
Hilary Headlee is the Head of Global Sales Ops + Enablement at Zoom. Named a 2019 Top LinkedIn Sales Voice, she is a frequent speaker at top sales conferences such as SaaStr, Outreach UNLEASH, and TOPO Summit. You might recognize her name as a voice dedicated to helping other women in sales advance their careers as well, especially those in the Bay area.
Fun fact: Hillary was a speaker at our Ramp 2018.
Through a combination of being “on the business” strategy, planning, and insights—and being “in the business”—process, systems, and data, Hillary helps bring order to the chaos of pre-and post-IPO companies.
Hillary’s career as a sales enablement professional is all about embracing the discomfort and learning through challenges, and she has sought to inspire other women to do the same thing through all her speaking engagements. She wants women in sales to accept the anxiety, uncertainty, and even fear throughout their career, and support each other in overcoming those feelings instead of beating themselves up. Hillary’s colleagues from different teams all agree: she is a powerful blend of strategic insights, technical knowledge and unlimited energy and inspiration. What a way to impact your team!
“Becc’s the queen in the sales development community and I’ve learned so much from her. I initially started going to her workshops when I was looking for SDR roles summer 2019 and she knows everything about human psychology and leverages it to optimize personalization in emails, LinkedIn messages and calling.”
Becc is one we love to follow because of her commitment to the space—and for following her passion. She knew early on that she wanted to work in sales, and she was bold enough to dream about what sales development could be and turn that into a reality. Her brainchild, “Flip the Script,” started as a side project, but eventually grew from a webinar series into a North America tour earlier this year. The national bus tour offers free and live training to help SDRs and AEs drive more quota, book more meetings and close more deals, further expanding her effort to make learning a group experience among sales pros. How amazing is that?
Listed by Drift among the 12 sales development leaders who are inspiring a new generation of salespeople, Becc Holland is the embodiment of energy, passion and perseverance.
